The Medico-Legal Assessment and Report Process

We follow a structured process to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency from instruction through to delivery of the final report.

1. Instruction — we receive a letter of instruction from the solicitor, insurer, or instructing party, along with all relevant documentation (medical records, witness statements, and other background material).
2. Assessment session(s) — a comprehensive clinical assessment is conducted, which may include clinical interview, standardised psychometric measures, and neuropsychological testing as appropriate. Sessions take place in person at our Glasgow clinic or via secure video call where suitable.
3. Comprehensive written report — following the assessment, a detailed report is prepared addressing the specific questions raised in the letter of instruction. Reports include a clear summary of findings, diagnostic formulation, opinion on causation and prognosis, and recommendations.
4. Court attendance and oral evidence — where required, our psychologists are available to attend court to provide oral evidence as expert witnesses, including examination-in-chief and cross-examination.
