Work with CaraAbout Dr Cara Diamond
Hello, I'm Cara, a Principal Clinical Psychologist with over 12 years of post-graduate experience in a variety of NHS mental health services. Our work together will allow you to explore and understand your current difficulties, what has contributed to their development and maintenance, as well as giving you the skills and resilience that will help you to cope with future challenges. I have extensive experience in helping individuals and families to navigate mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, phobias, PTSD, OCD and attachment/interpersonal difficulties. I work within an integrative framework drawing from a range of evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Systemic Therapy. In addition to my doctorate level training, I have completed further training in ACT, trauma-focused CBT, mindfulness and intermediate level training in Systemic Family Therapy. I have a particular interest in attachment and relational patterns and the impact that they have on adult life. In addition to my clinical NHS role, I also hold a post as a Clinical Tutor with the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme at the University of Glasgow where I play a key role in the education and training for Trainee Clinical Psychologists. I believe a vital component of psychological support is the therapeutic relationship and within your sessions with me, you will be treated with warmth, compassion and respect. My aim is to create a safe and containing space for you to develop a better understanding of your difficulties in order for you to feel able to move forward.
